NEXWAY IST-2001-37944 Reconfigurable Radio Access Technology: Between Myth and Reality
نویسندگان
چکیده
An overview of software radio and reconfigurable radio is given, with a special emphasis on results from EU-funded projects. The state-of-the art in reconfigurable radio is presented, detailing architectures providing reconfigurability for networks and services. The allsoftware approach for reconfigurable network elements and terminals is described. Finally, the Eurecom software radio platform is presented as well as the design flow for implementing reconfigurable air-interfaces. The evolution toward reconfigurable terminal architectures targeted at SoC/SoPC(System-on-a-Chip/System-on-a-Programmable -Chip) architectures is outlined.

Reconfigurable mobile communications: compelling needs and technologies to support reconfigurable terminals
To date, research into reconfigurable mobile communications has predominantly focussed on the software radio concept, and specifically on the hardware technologies required to move physical layer processing into a programmable environment [ 1][2][3]. Although an interesting and necessary challenge, this only represents a fraction of the overall support and technology required to realise the pot...
متن کاملIntelligent Decision-Making within 4th Generation Wireless Networks
4 Generation wireless networks will require much more flexibility than 3G systems. This means that the network should adjust itself according to its load and the users’ demand. To provide these features we need flexible reconfigurable network elements, which can be implemented by means of SoftWare Radio (SWR) concepts and intelligent decision-making technology. In this paper, we present a new s...
متن کاملCognitive Radio on a Reconfigurable MPSoC Platform
Due to the explosive growth of wireless communication, the demands for radio spectrum are rapidly increasing. It is very difficult to accommodate new wireless services under the current spectrum allocation scheme. On the other hand, the allocated spectrum is not efficiently utilized. Cognitive Radio is proposed as a technology to solve the imbalance between spectrum scarcity and spectrum under-...

متن کاملEasily Configurable Simulation Environment of Utran Physical Layer
UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System) is the most expanding mobile technology nowadays. Evolution of networks proceeds with improvement of the core network and with integration of alternative wireless access networks. To improve present communication systems, an UMTS standard compliant simulation environment is essential. This paper introduces an UTRAN (UMTS Terrestrial Radio Access...
